John Parrish-Sprowl, PhD currently serves as the Director of the Global Health Communication Center (GHCC) of the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts as well as Professor of Communication Studies and adjunct professor of Women’s Studies. Prior to this position, he was the Chair of the Department of Communication Studies. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Community Health Engagement Program (CHEP) of the Indiana Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) in the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition, he is a member of both the University College and the Russian and Eastern Europe Institute faculties of Indiana University.

Susan Parrish-Sprowl, Ph.D., LCSW is the President of Parrish-Sprowl & Associates, Inc., a provider of psychotherapeutic, educational, and organizational consulting services, and is a primary consultant with the Global Health Communication Center (GHCC) in the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts. 

Angus Thomson

Faculty Associate

Angus Thomson is Senior Social Scientist: Demand for Immunization, Health Section, UNICEF, NY. He is also Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Communication Studies & Global Health Communication Center, Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, USA. He is currently spearheading the Vaccination Demand Observatory, a global collaboration aiming to provide countries with a full capacity strengthening package for social listening and engagement, initially focused on vaccine misinformation.

Charlette works as a Research Associate with Dr. John Parrish-Sprowl, the Director of the GHCC, and together with other research and faculty associates they worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) on research regarding Community Engagement Framework in 2018 and ongoing projects. Charlette became a Master’s student in the Applied Communication Program at IUPUI SLA upon acceptance in January 2020, and continues to work on GHCC projects to raise awareness.

Jake Watson

Research Assistant

Jake Watson studies Health Communication in the PhD program at IUPUI, where he also earned his BA and MA in Communication Studies. He also holds an AA degree in American Sign Language.

Dr. Matthew Lamb

Dr. Lamb is a communication scholar working in the areas of urban communication and urban health analysis. His research centers on built environments and their influence on our health and our lived experiences.

Natasha Rascon

Research Faculty

Natasha A. Rascon, PhD is an Assistant Professor at Indiana State University. She serves as an advisory board member for the Accessibility Resource Office (ARO), Camp Kesem, and for Indiana Foster and Adoptive Parents (IFAAP) Resource and Advocacy Group. Rascon serves as the faculty advisor for the National Communication Association’s National Honor Society, Lambda Pi Eta (LPH). She is also the department of communication’s liaison for the College Challenge program. Rascon serves the ISU campus in a variety of capacities, including the Commencement Speaker Selection committee and coach for the commencement speaker. Rascon enjoys being the chair of MA students’ culminating experiences as well as serving on committees.

Samia Alajlouni

Research Associate

Samia Alajlouni is a Muslim Hoosier with roots in the Middle East. She was born and raised in Jordan, the 5th of nine children in her family. She finished a bachelor degree in plant production from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Yet, her passion was closer to human interactions and cultures. So, when she moved to Indianapolis in 2003, she enrolled in the Applied Communication Program at IUPUI, where she completed her master’s degree with a focus on intercultural communication and strategic planning for communication campaigns.
